For the last six years, Pittsburgh has welcomed Anthrocon, the world’s largest convention devoted to anthropomorphic enthusiasts. The community consists of artists, animators, writers, puppeteers, and fans of cartoon animals, but the most widely recognized members are furries, individuals who don elaborate costumes known as fursuits, which are designed to express the wearer’s “true” personality.

Now a group of Point Park University students will devote their senior thesis film to exploring fursuits and the furry lifestyle. Directed by Dominic Rodriguez, the documentary will focus on the unusual hobby by following a diverse group of several fursuiters in the U.S. The students hope to honestly examine this colorful sub-culture by taking a humanistic approach and getting to know the people inside the costumes.

In order to achieve their vision, the crew needs money for transportation, as the project will take them to different areas of the country and to several conventions throughout the year. Those interested can make a contribution on the Untitled Fursuiters Documentary page found on IndieGoGo.
